Glad you asked here, because the meat heads at a lot of the bodybuilding forums would flip if you wanted to look slim and lean like Taylor Kitsch. The ladies dig this look and it works well in hip clothes, etc. Good goal. So his physique is built a lot more on low body fat vs having to add a lot of muscle. I would suggest a low volume of strength training and crush the heck out of it on HIIT. When in doubt, less lifting and a little more intervals. Keep those calories down. If you are 6′ tall and want this look, you will probably have to hit the 160 pound mark (with his level of muscle). So work on dropping roughly 15 pounds of fat. It will take you until sometime in June if you work hard now. Sound good?

I’m an ast. manager at Gold’s Gym. I work and workout with trainers all day and they all say that jumping rope is one of the best cardio excersises a person can do. I’ve been using it in my workout regimen going on three years now and let me tell you, there is nothing better. I’m 6’0 and weigh between 175-180. If I didn’t include my jumprope routine it’d probably be a bit higher. It works that well. I do very little lifting. My workout is simple; my jumprope routine, 3-5 sets of 12 pullups, and running/walking for about 45 minutes to an hour. So if your not into weight training, this is the perfect calorie burning workout that also gives you shredded lean muscle. Here’s my 15 minute jumprope routine.

Hi Erny – I’m still skeptical but I’ll be 40 soon and have the classic spare tire – not a massive oversize tire but still more than I need. What’s my best supplement (crazy bulk or otherwise), in your opinion to slim/trim as first priority but still build muscle. I’m guessing Testosterone changes are a big factor for me now. I have broad shoulders & strong legs, but could do with bigger arms (currently average) and flatter belly/waist. Any input is greatly appreciated. When choosing your carb source, pick foods like potatoes, yams, rice, whole grains, oats, etc. Also, avoid refined oils, which can sneak in extra calories and lead to more fat gains.
